CryptPad

Secure Collaborative Documents

What's the difference between guest and registered accounts?

Guest accounts: Anyone can use CryptPad immediately without signing up. However, documents you create as a guest will automatically delete after 15 days of inactivity.

Registered accounts: Your documents are saved permanently. You get dedicated storage space and can organize your work into folders. To get a registered account, join an onboarding call or contact your hub admin.

Is my data actually encrypted?

Yes! CryptPad uses zero-knowledge encryption, which means your documents are encrypted in your browser before they ever reach our server. Even we can't read your documents. The encryption keys are stored in the URL you share, not on the server.

How do I share documents with others?

You can share documents with anyone—they don't need a BlackSpace.Zone account. Just click the "Share" button and copy the link. You can choose different access levels:

  • Edit: Full editing access
  • View: Read-only access
  • Embed: For embedding in other sites

What types of documents can I create?

CryptPad supports multiple document types:

  • Rich Text documents (like Google Docs)
  • Spreadsheets (like Excel)
  • Presentations (like PowerPoint)
  • Code/Markdown editors
  • Kanban boards
  • Forms and polls

What happens if I lose the link to my document?

If you have a registered account, all your documents are stored in your CryptDrive (your personal document organizer). If you're a guest user and lose the link, the document can't be recovered—this is a security feature of zero-knowledge encryption.

Loomio

Democratic Decision-Making

How do I get access to Loomio?

Loomio is for hub members only. Your hub administrator will send you an email invitation. If you believe you should have access but haven't received an invitation, contact your hub admin.

What is Loomio used for?

Loomio helps groups make decisions together through structured processes:

  • Discussions: Have threaded conversations about issues
  • Proposals: Put forward ideas for the group to consider
  • Polls: Gather opinions and preferences
  • Voting: Make collective decisions transparently

How do proposals work?

Anyone in the group can create a proposal. Members can respond with one of four positions:

  • Agree: I support this proposal
  • Abstain: I'm okay either way
  • Disagree: I have concerns (explain them)
  • Block: I have serious objections that prevent consensus

Each response includes space to explain your reasoning, making decision-making transparent and thoughtful.

Are my votes private?

It depends on how the proposal is set up. By default, Loomio shows who voted and how they voted—this transparency builds accountability. However, proposal creators can enable anonymous voting if needed for sensitive topics.

Can I participate via email?

Yes! You'll receive email notifications about discussions and proposals, and you can reply directly to those emails to participate. This makes it easier to stay involved without constantly checking the platform.

Jitsi Meet

Secure Video Conferencing

Do I need an account to use Jitsi?

No! Jitsi Meet is completely open access. Just visit meet.blackspace.zone, type in a meeting name, and you're in. Anyone you share the link with can join—no account, no login, no barriers.

How do I start a meeting?

It's simple:

  • Go to meet.blackspace.zone
  • Type a meeting name (this creates or joins that meeting)
  • Allow your browser to access your camera/microphone
  • Share the URL with participants

Tip: Use specific meeting names to avoid random people joining (like "Feb2025-TeamPlanning" instead of just "meeting").

Is my video call secure?

Yes! All Jitsi meetings on BlackSpace.Zone are encrypted. We run this on our own infrastructure, which means:

  • No corporate surveillance or data mining
  • We don't store recordings (unless you choose to record)
  • No third-party tracking
  • Movement-controlled infrastructure

What if my video quality is poor?

Try these steps:

  • Turn off your video (audio-only uses less bandwidth)
  • Close other tabs and applications
  • Move closer to your WiFi router
  • If multiple people are on the same network, turn off some cameras

Jitsi automatically adjusts quality based on connection speed, but these steps can help.

Can I use Jitsi on my phone?

Yes! You can use Jitsi in your phone's browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox). For a better experience, you can also download the free Jitsi Meet app from the App Store or Google Play—just make sure to use our custom server: meet.blackspace.zone

How many people can join a meeting?

Our server can handle substantial meetings, but optimal performance varies by participants' connections. For best results:

  • Small meetings (up to 10): Everyone can have video on
  • Medium meetings (10-25): Consider turning off some videos
  • Large meetings (25+): Use audio-only or presenter mode
